Tangy

By popular demand, here’s an adult version of my Helena pattern.

While I kept many aspects of the original design, including the top-down raglan construction and the simple lace pattern in the skirt section, I changed the silhouette to be more flattering to a woman’s shape. Rather than an empire waist as in the baby sweater, I’ve dropped the waist to create a peplum-style skirt for the adult version.

Knitting from the top down allows you to try on the sweater as you go, so you can customize the length and be sure of the fit as you go along.

PATTERN NOTES
[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here].

Fitting Note: This cardigan is designed so that the combined fronts are approx. 1.5[2, 2.75, 2.75, 2.75, 3.5, 4.25, 5] inches wider than the back. This allows more ease in the front, over the bust, than in the back.

Instructions for the Backward Loop Cast On can be found here.

M1L (left-leaning increase): Insert left needle, from front to back, under strand of yarn which runs between last stitch on left needle and first stitch on right needle; knit this stitch through back loop. 1 stitch increased.

hermiaCHTM1R (right-leaning increase): Insert left needle, from back to front, under strand of yarn which runs between last stitch on left needle and first stitch on right needle; knit this stitch through front loop. 1 stitch increased.
