After months of winter projects, I was
struck with the desperate need to knit something for summer. I
wanted something suitable for "tv knitting" yet
with enough interest to prevent boredom.
Looking for inspiration, I perused knit
blogs and ran across a picture of a
bias knit scarf. An image of a tank top using this technique
began to form in my mind.
The bias diagonal makes a simple v-neckline
and the resulting bottom mirrors the trendy handkerchief
halter.
No shaping and minimal finishing makes Askew
a quick and easy addition to your summer wardrobe. |

Immerse all pieces in lukewarm water with a small amount (approx. 1 tsp, depending on amount of water) of fabric softener. Allow pieces to soak until thoroughly saturated.
Pin pieces out to measurements given in schematic. To achieve these measurements, pieces will be significantly stretched widthwise, but not lengthwise. Allow to dry completely.
Using mattress st, sew right and left fronts together at center.
Sew side seams, matching garter st section at upper edge of back
to last garter st section of front below base of straps.
Try on top to determine best placement of straps. Sew ends of straps in place. Weave in ends. | |
