Little Knits

If a scarf made entirely of K1 P1 ribbing includes some 4-stitch or 8-stitch cable crossings, the result will be a cabled scarf which is completely reversible, having a front side and a back side which are identical, and appearing to have cables which are only 2 or 4 stitches wide. Using this method, the cable crossings may be made from either side of the knitted work, and both sides will still look exactly the same.

Version 1 utilizes 4-stitch and 8-stitch cable crossings separated by columns of garter stitch. Version 2 plays around with 8-stitch cable crossings a little bit, offsetting them by half of a cable (4 stitches) sometimes, and gradually spacing them out more in the mid-section of the scarf. Both scarves have one garter stitch running along each side edge for the length of the scarves, which is just the thing to give the edges a simple, finished look.
