Stardust is a short, sweet cardigan with glitzy sprinkles and ribbed bow-tie in the front.

A little something to keep you warm when you are wearing that sleeveless dress… and it might make the dress look a little more interesting.

Stardust is cute with jeans and a t-shirt, too.

Karabella Gossamer [30% kid mohair, 52% nylon, 18% polyester; 222yd/203m per 50g ball]; color #6105; 3[3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6] balls

Recommended needle size:
1 US #5/3.75mm circular needle, 24 inches or longer

In the lace pattern used for this sweater, every [yo] is paired with a decrease (a [k2tog] or [SKP]). When shaping the neckline, armholes or sleeve caps, do not work a [yo] if there are not enough sts to work its accompanying decrease.

SKP: Sl 1, k1, pass slipped st over.

2x2 Rib (Worked over a multiple of 4 sts +2):
Row 1 [RS]: [K2, p2] to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2 [WS]: [P2, k2] to last 2 sts, p2.
Repeat these 2 rows for 2x2 Rib.

Shape Armholes:
BO 4[4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 67[75, 83, 89, 95, 103, 109] sts.

BO 3[3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 61[69, 77, 81, 85, 93, 97] sts.

Next Row [RS]: K to end, place marker; place held sts of one tie on left needle with RS facing, work sts of tie in 2x2 Rib as set to end. Tie is now attached to front edge of cardigan. 54[58, 62, 66, 74, 78, 82] sts.

From this point, work sts of tie in 2x2 Rib as set.

Next Row [WS]: Work in pattern to marker; p to end.

Shape Neckline:
Set-up Row [RS]: Work Row 1 of Left Front Neckline Shaping chart for your size to marker, decreasing as shown; work in 2x2 Rib as set to end.
Continue in pattern as set, decreasing as shown, until work measures 10[10, 10, 11, 11, 13, 13] inches, ending with a WS row.

Shape Armhole:
Continuing neckline shaping as set, shape armhole as follows:
Row 1 [RS]: BO 4[4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7] sts, work in pattern to end.
Even-Numbered Rows 2-8 [WS]: Work in pattern as set.

From this point, work sts of tie in 2x2 Rib as set.

Continue in pattern as set, decreasing as shown, until work measures 10[10, 10, 11, 11, 13, 13] inches, ending with a RS row.

Shape Armhole:
Continuing neckline shaping as set, shape armhole as follows:
Row 1 [WS]: BO 4[4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7] sts, work in pattern to end.

Continuing in Stardust Pattern, shape sleeve as follows:
Work 3 rows in pattern.
Next Row [RS]: K1, m1, work in pattern to last st, m1, k1.
Repeat these 4 rows 3[3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4] times more, working increased sts into pattern. 55[59, 63, 67, 77, 81, 85] sts.

Continue in pattern until work measures 4[4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5] inches or desired length to underarm, ending with a WS row.

Shape Sleeve Cap:
BO 4[4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 47[51, 55, 57, 65, 69, 71] sts.
BO 3[3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 41[45, 49, 49, 55, 59, 59] sts.
BO 1[2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 39[41, 43, 43, 47, 51, 49] sts.

Sizes XS, S, M, 1X, 2X Only:
Work Decrease Row.
Work 1 row in pattern.
Repeat these 2 rows 2[4, 6, -, 3, 1, -] times more. 17[17, 17, -, 21, 23, -] sts.

All Sizes:
BO 2 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.
BO remaining 13[13, 13, 17, 17, 19, 19] sts.

FINISHING

Sew back to fronts at armholes. Sew sleeves into armholes. Sew sleeve seams and side seams.

Replace held sts of one side of collar on needle. Work in 2x2 Rib as set until collar reaches center back of neckline.
BO all sts. Repeat for other side of collar.
Sew BO ends of collar together. Sew lower edge of collar to back neckline edge.

Weave in all ends and block as desired.

Turit is from Germany where nobody pays attention to knitting. She “designed” and knitted her first sweater at age 14; that was very, very long ago.

She started writing down her patterns about a year ago. She teaches classes in which she tries to convey her approach of intuitive knitting rather than blindly following patterns. You can find her here.
