our baby is gone

She survived the most horrible medical crisis this past May, and made it to her 11th birthday. It was a miracle.

We now know she hung in just to give us three last beautiful months with her. She was more affectionate and cuddly [which is saying something, since she was the kissiest bunny ever] in those last three months than ever. She even tolerated being held for a while. Once she fell asleep in my arms. Twice, actually.

[if you know bunnies, you know that's a huge deal.]

My hub and I are sadder than words can convey. We'll be married 15 years this October. Noot was with us for 11 of those years.

We love you, scooterpie. Rest well.

Comments:
I am so sorry about the loss of your little bun bun. I know from following your blog how fond you were of her. You must have a big hole in your heart, because looking at that picture is enough to make a stranger fall in love with her! Take care.

Awww. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your bunny. You have my deepest sympathies. {{{hug}}}

Seeing your Noot made me weep Amy. What a sweet baby!

I lost both my precious boys this year, Jaxon on Feb. 13 and Mickie on June 2...my kitty babies.

I wish you and your hubby comfort.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your bunny. Our pets are with us such a short time really but alway make a huge impact in our lives. When they're gone they leave such a big hole. If there is a heaven for animals, and I'm sure there is, your scooterpie is nibbling the sweetest grasses and waiting to snuggle you when you go. My deepest sympathies.

Amy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets are such a blessing, adding so much to our lives. I pray God will comfort you and your husband with wonderful, tender, funny memories of Noot - and with his own very real presence. Take care of yourselves.
Sue

I'm so sorry you lost Noot. I had to put my bun - Sir Edbun Hillary (yep, he was a climber) to sleep just about three months ago. If rabbits hang out at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for their people, I hope he plays with Ed, and our previous buns Mam'selle and Bitty.

Also wanted to send my condolences for your loss of Noot. Such a sweet bunny...

So sorry for your loss! My heart goes out to you and your hubby.

I am so sad to hear about the loss of your bunny. We have 4 bunnies right now, all rescued and absolutely know how much they add to one's family. We have lost several over the years including our 10 yr old, Fondu, who had been with us longer than some of our children at the time. Warm and fuzzy thoughts go out to you....

I'm so sorry about your bunny. It's hard to lose a four-legged member of the family, but reassuring to know that she seemed to know that her time with you was coming to an end, and wanted to give you as much love as she could in that time. We lost the second of our two sibling cats earlier this year, and still feel it.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your child. I am one who truly views our little ones as children - I am closer to my little ones than some of my family members.

Please carry this thought with you - it is one of my favorite quotes - it is an alaskan folk lore quote -

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather our loved ones looking down to let us know how happy they are!

remember the happy times and the cuddle times...

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your bunny. As a mommy of three kitties and two guinea pigs, I know what you mean when you talk about your baby. I hope that your wonderful memories bring you comfort.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bunnies have such huge personalities, I guess we shouldn't be suprised at what a void they leave when they pass on. My thoughts are with you.

Oh how sad! What a beautiful bun, and what a life she led. I'm so sorry.

Another note of condolence. I know the large hole left in your hearts by your small bunny-baby.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your bunny is so cute and bunniful...and what a wonderful life she had with you!

Such a beautiful girl ! She is one of the reasons I read knitty to start with - another knitting friend of mine with bunnies sent me the link, and she looks so much like my first bunny, Fuzz Bucket, I was entranced.

It turns out there are a few of us knitters with bunnies - I am sure there is a PHD in there somewhere.

I hope that your grief lessens soon and that you are able to open your hearts to another bunny (or two) soon.

I am so sorry for your loss. Know that the support and love of the entire community of pet parents is with you as you rebuild from this loss. My heart goes out to you and your husband as the pain of losing a beloved pet is horrible and far too often made worse by a society that does not recognize how much four-footed, furred and feathered kids are a part of you. Have the courage to greive for your Noot and the courage to honor her and know that she will be there to greet you when it is time for you to meet again. Blessings and Love

What an amazingly cute bunny. Seriously cute bunny! And 11 years old--wow! Sorry she's gone.

I'm so sorry, loosing a dear pet is tough. My love.

Reading about your bunny adventures is what prompted me to say yes when asked to adopt Syd Harett last month. I'm so sorry to hear about Noot, and send all my hugs and heartfelt well-wishes to you.

I too am so sorry for your loss. As my name states, am a bunny person myself. Always have been. And have rescued many. I share my home with home one now who I can't walk by with out her putting a smile on my face.

We are lucky to have such cuteness in our lives.

Thanks for sharing your cutie pie with us.

look at that nose!! so precious. my condolences! i just lost my little kitten-katten in spring 2004 and i am familiar with ur associated feelings. it will get better, but Nook will never be gone from ur memory.

I am truely sorry for your loss. I have four fur children. I have two mini rexs and two holland lops. My husband and I got into bunnies because he is allergic to cats and dogs. Honestly I can not imagine my life without four sets of four paws pattering around the house. I would like to extend a welcome to a website that celebrates rabbits called Lagomorph Lounge. http://lagomorphlounge.proboards2.com/

Here is a photo of our furry little family. There is only three because we hadn't gotten our fourth fur child yet.

Your Noot looks so cute and I sure he is looking from the rainbow bridge doing binkies for you.

Awwwww... Amy I'm so sorry about your bunny. We have 5 cats, a dog and now a bunny. Your page actually inspired us to bring a bunny into our lives and we just adore him. I sincerely believe these guys come back to us, whether returning here in another fur suit or on the other side, waiting for us to get there. We send you a huge hug and prayers that your girl comes back to you again.

You have my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your darling little bunny girl. My gorgeous black and white kitten boy, Ramses, will be 14 years old on 13 December, but he'll always be a baby to me. We lost our wonderous golden fleeced cat, Bluey, on 2 June 2001. We think she had a premonition of what was about to happen to the world and decided to make her exit, while the going was good. She was around 17 years old. We held a funeral and burial service in our back garden in Sydney, Australia, and we still pour libations of milk on her grave after our Sunday morning breakfast, from a lovely antique green glass milk jug, which she always loved to inspect when it was unattended. She was a very precious girl and her spirit is still with us, as your bunny's spirit will stay with you until she is sure you are OK. I didn't mean to write a novel, just got carried away.

So sorry to hear about Noot's passing. It's so hard to lose the little furry ones, be they bunny, dog, cat, or whatever. I firmly believe we'll all see our dear fuzzy family members again, heaven wouldn't be heaven without them. Rest assured she's still with you and you will see her again someday. I wish you both comfort and happy memories of Noot.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet bunny. It's easy to see how much you loved her, and I know you gave her the best life a bunny could hope for. I'm also glad to see you've adopted the two new babies. There are always bunnies out there that need good parents. It's good to see that you're making other bunnies as happy as you made Noot.

I'm SO sorry for your loss. I lost my kitty Gem (who hopped like a bunny, go figure) last spring; she was almost 19. These small creatures leave such big holes in our hearts and lives.

I am so sorry! I just want to rush home and give my dog a hug (if the cheeky scamp will let me without gnashing his teeth at me!).

i'm really sorry to hear about you're loss. my deepest sympathy.
