guess who's coming to our house?

thanks to the loan of my US-based sister's amex card [you need a card with a US address to buy the thing] and the impending postal enabling services of my friend J, Tivo is coming home to mama!

thanks also to Stacey for making the call last night for me. you were right!

for any other canucks similarly tempted, the key points are:
- order from the Tivo site and you can get the $150 rebate deducted from your purchase price, so the box plus one year's service is $225us. nice.
- you have to have a credit card or Amex with a US billing address to pay
- ground shipping is free
- you have to have a friend in the US to mail the box to
- the friend then has to forward the baby on to you

this isn't circumventing the rules. this is how Tivo has set it up. hey, at least we've legitimately got the service up here, so once the box comes and hub installs it [he's designated installer, since he actually will READ the instructions], i'll let you know how it turns out.

so
freaking
excited!

Comments:
your life will never be the same again!! congrats on the new baby TiVo

It will change your life. Tivo is a member of the family. We love him!

To file for the rebate, you'll need the product code sticker on the outside of the box. Don't do what my friend did and throw out the box before you send in for the rebate!

so
freaking
jealous!

don't be -- you can have it too!
:-)

everyone should have Tivo!

Ok I give up what is or who is Tivo??

Thanks!!

Hope you like the new toy! I could do without my TiVo, but only if I got rid of my TV as well. I never watch "live" TV anymore - why, when I can TiVo it and then triple-fast through the ads? It makes holiday season and political season much more palatable as well...
Enjoy!

One thing to know about TiVo that surprised us when we got it last week - it needs a phone line! That stressed us out but we managed to track down a wireless USB adapter so now it works off of our wireless broadband network. Good luck - TiVo's great. It tapes the wackiest things in an effort to please you. Yesterday was "Prostitution y Sida II"?? (We don't speak Spanish or have a particular interest in prostitutes.)

I had to laugh when I read Maries comment. When we first got our Tivo it was set up to look at what we were watching and go out and find other show it thought we might like. We went away on vacation and came back to a weeks worth of kids shows because Tivo saw that my husband was watching cartoons :o)

The other great thing about our Tivo is that my husband opened it up and dropped in 2 1 gig hard drives and we can now record 360 hours of tv on the highest quality setting. :o)

Enjoy your Tivo!

Congrats on the Tivo! My husband is always the designated installer as well, but he won't read the instructions. Luckily, however, he's pretty edjumcated in hooking stuff up so 99% of the time it works out just fine. LOL

Amy,

Your CAA card is sitting right here, on the desk at the Naked Sheep. Drop in if you want to pick it up, or give us a call.

Aye! Pirates! (randomness)

hey, i need that card!
i'll have to visit this weekend, then, won't i? :-)

woo hoo!

Honey, you will LOVE Tivo..I don't know how I lived without mine. Enjoy!
