if it's spring, it must be time for new Birks!

It is hard to describe how I feel about Birkenstocks. Before them, I had foot troubles that kept me on my ass for a long damned time. After them, despite custom-made [insanely expensive] orthotics, I could walk. A year in them, and the plantar fasciitis was under control.

Saying i <3 them doesn't begin to cover it.

I have Arizonas, a pair of Gizehs, Madrids in silver, fading lilac nubuck Floridas and of course my olive suede Bostons. But you must welcome the newest additions: Pittsburg. [yes, spelled like that.] They're part of the Footprints line, which takes the Birkenstock footbed and puts it in more shoe-like stuff. I ordered my on eBay and despite the $42 customs charge I had to pay [the shoes were only $89us), I am t.h.r.i.l.l.e.d. They fit perfectly, they are freaking adorable and they will do very well for me when I'm in Italy.

There are other adorable styles in the Footprints line and I believe I'll be watching it more closely. I'd thought Footprints ran more narrow or slim or something than the standard Birk line, but thankfully not. [And I have had problems with the Tatami line, which doesn't have the same height in the arch support area, so this is a huge relief.]

Yay for cute & happy feet!

Comments:
So cute! What color did you get?

that blue...it's a bit darker in real life. yummmmy.
(and if they turn out to be my favorite shoes, i'll likely get the black ones, too.)

Those are so cute! I've got to check out this Footprints line. I'm just not a traditional Birks style kind'o'girl, but I really like your new ones.

Those are wicked cute! I need to get out of my Merrell's and back into Birks so I can show off my handknit socks. (Okay, that's if I ever finish the second one.) Off to shop for shoes....

These are so damn cute - I must order them when I get home...ebay is blocked at work

I just bought my first pair of Birks (dark brown Bostons) a couple of weeks ago, and my feet have never been so happy.

The Pittsburgs are cute - must be named for one of the other ones than PA. =)

Thanks for the idea. I, like you, need sensible shows that fit my orthotics. I'm looking for something for my daughter's wedding.

I have 2 pairs and LOVE them. I can stand cooking for hours and no pain. Excellent.

you say they cured your plantar fascitis?! sign me up. my feet are my weakness

not cured -- but it's well under control, which never happened with the orthotics. any good pair of well-fitting birks should help. whenever i feel twinges in the foot, i put the birks back on and it calms down.

of course, my feet aren't typical, and there are no guarantees. but there has to be a reason so many people love them. just take your time getting your first pair broken in [which really means getting your feet used to them]. an hour a day at first...inside...and then a little more, bit by bit.

i'll take you birk shopping if you want. :-) but they ain't cheap in this town.

would you have to pay the customs charge if a friend in the US sent them to you as a "gift"?. If it saves you a bunch of $$, i would happily send them to you from here.

lemme know.
hugs,
your fellow birki-loving woman

oh, i think i need me some of those! i have so much trouble with my feet, i think i could justify dropping hefty £££ on shoes that will help me!

oh you enabler, you!

Those are adorable!!! I need to find some locally to try on. I've got PF in both feet and horribly narrow feet. :)

I suffer with Plantar fascitis too and I will take your advice! These also look like the perfect shoe to show off handknit socks!

sheryl...that was part of my evil plan! :-)

I do love my birks too and can't wait till I find a winter pair that I like. But looks like they have new ones.. I'm off to have a look !! (partner doesn't wear any other shoes since he bought his first pair too..)
