you must see this

I wrote a lengthy diatribe on my opinion of the difference between knitting and crochet in the Interweave Knits blog a few years ago.

Nothing explains my theory better than this -- possibly the most beautiful crocheted object I've ever seen. It couldn't possibly be created any other way -- certainly not with knitting. I'm also heavily impressed by Mandy's crochet skills [she's Knitty's tech editor, you know]. This girl knows her way around a pattern, whatever direction it takes. That scarf is worthy of framing.

Comments:
That is TOO COOL! There is a purpose for every skill - crochet was the only thing I did for many years, knitting is still my passion, but I find it nice to have knowledge of more than one! That scarf is GORGEOUS :)

Wicked.

Agreed--it's gorgeous

The scarf is really coool ! I love the article you wrote, sums up the differences that make crochet and knitting real different crafts for different purposes and projects.

I'm blushing. Thank you so much for the high compliments, Amy!
Great article, I hadn't seen it before. I love both knitting and crochet, and I think it's really irritating the way people seem to need to vilify one when stating their preference for the other. They both have their advantages, and it's nice when looking at an exciting new yarn, to have double the choices re. what to do with it! I just can't see the bad in that scenario.
Um. Thanks again. :)

Oh please, oh please, oh please either include the pattern in a future knitty edition (can't we all make an exception for a crochet pattern) or post where one can find the pattern! It's beautiful!
