Dear Kiddo [daughter of Zib],

I hear you visited the blog and were hoping to see the bunnies. Well, no pictures just yet, because I'm very busy making the magazine that your mom and her friends are so fond of, and that takes a lot of time.

But I do have some good bunny news for you: we took them to the doctor yesterday to see how they were doing overall -- they hadn't been checked since they'd had their special surgery last January. The doctor reported that Squeeze is still 1.8 lbs lighter than Boeing*, who weighs SEVEN pounds. She's not fat, she's big boned, really. She's supposed to be a Mini Rex, and they usually weigh 4 pounds. But Boeing just kept on growing, and so she's a lot longer and bigger and heavier than any Mini Rex I've ever seen. Her paws are HUGE! Anyway, they're both very good, with healthy teeth and digestive systems and good strong poopers [knock wood] .

There will be bunny pictures for you, dear Kiddo, next week, once I don't have to go this office any more. But first, I have to finish Knitty magazine, or your mom and her friends will poke me with their knitting needles.

Love,
Amy

p.s. if you and your mom got on a plane and came to my big Leap party -- which happens a week from today -- you could visit the bunnies in person and rub their little fuzzy heads. They would like that.

*Boeing and Squeeze are sisters, from the same litter. That's all I'm saying. Genetics freak me out. :-)

Hi Amy (Knitty)!

Mini Rex bucks can weigh up to 4 1/4 pounds, does up to 4 1/2 pounds, but there is also a breed called Rex that weighs 7 1/2-9 1/2 pounds for bucks and 8 to 10 1/2 pounds for does. Sometimes, the bunnies just don't conform though. :) Tell Kiddo that she can see lots of pictures of bunnies (though not your bunnies) on the ARBA website. www.arba.net

Hi Amy!
Don't know if you remember my Standard Rex, Princess Nibbles. When we adopted her, she was a very porky bunner who LOVED food. I discovered later that their appetites are part of their breeding (to produce fur) and are distinct as their curly whiskers. Hope Kiddo can come and see Squeeze and Boeing!

Spike's been on a "eat all the food in the house" tear since we got Giles. Anezka also eats Giles' food whenever possible. (Yet Giles won't go up on a countertop, so our defenses against the raging appetite of Anezka are limited at best). So I'm taking Spike to "work out" at his biological brothers' house this afternoon!

I had to laugh a little when I read your all caps account of Boeing's weight. Mrs. Cooper just got weighed in at the vet at 14 pounds (and she's LOST weight since moving in with us, we took her off the alfafa). :) Now that I've had a giant, NO bunny looks big!

Hope you can post some bunny pictures soon!

I have a mini-rex mix, Gretchen, that just had her spay surgery.

I also want to let you know that it was on Knitty that I found the link to HRS. It was then that I began to think about a house bunny.

Now I have one!!!

Your new buns are beautiful.

So happy to hear that some new bunnies found you ! They are gorgeous, and I hope you bring each other joy.
