THAT was fun.

The party was last night at the new Lettuce Knit location, just a few doors left of the old location. But so very, very much nicer! Look!

Steps to congregate on, double doors that open wide to welcome you, twice the space inside and...a bathroom!

Lots of people came, and so I now present to you a wee recollection of the evening in photos. Please enjoy.

Knitters abound!

Hola, Maria!

Stephanie, Leslie and Denny

Happy LK shoppers heading home with their yarn before Denny could steal it from them. [she was on a bit of a yarn-stealing thingy last night. We blame the strongbow.]

Look how big the new store is! Two rooms!

mmm...silken straw. yummy.

mmm...blue moon socks that rock. yummy.

cake one from hub: it's a "congratulations for graduating proofreader university" cake for me. notice the intentional typos.

cake two from hub: because he saw a soccer cake and couldn't leave without it. it says "knitaly" and somehow it was very appropriate. Owner-Megan's little boy inherited most of the little soccer dudes on it.

laura loves to wind yarn.

shop atmosphere.

silk and more silk. mmm.

Owner-Megan hard at work.

Denny with Strongbow. I rest my case.

Jen and Denny

Stephanie knitting some lacy stuff

Filling out little slips of paper to win the cool stuff I got to give out

We took over the sidewalk.

Look at Leslie's haul from mini mills. We were all drooling.

And finally -- yes, with her permission -- I post this movie. A little panorama of the evening when people were sitting and knitting. The first one to say hi is non-owner Megan [there are 2 Megans at Lettuce Knit, see]. The lady in pink is Tamarah and she was in love with my Lexie Barnes bag. The best bit is at the end. This is what happens when Jen thinks a still camera is pointed at her. The innocent victim is Joyce. Rachel H is the one providing commentary on the right.

I love Jen.

Thanks to everyone for coming, to Megan and Lettuce Knit for hosting, to hub for the cakes, to Denny for the extra entertainment, to Maria for forgetting her soccer whistle, to Jen for just being Jen, to Tanya for the champagne-like substance that made me a blithering drunk after two sips, to those who wanted to come but couldn't, and to the whole damn world. I love you all. [hic]

Seriously, though, it was a really great night and I got to meet a whole bunch of new people and had some great conversations. Thank you everyone. [I also got a couple of sweet gifties last night. I'll blog those later. :-)]

I will now get back to work.

Comments:
I had so much fun. Thanks for throwing the party and for the door prizes!

Um, where are pictures of drunken Amy?
Are the Ryder trucks for bringing yarn purchases home?

It looks so great! I'm totally jealous of the Blue Moon socks that rock - they're so hard to get here in VA (other than online of course!) Congrats!

I had the best time Amy, thanks so much! Especially thanks for my BOOK! Seriously, I don't think I'd ever won any kind of random draw thing until last night. Gee, I should probably have bought a lottery ticket, too...

looks like a great time was had by all!

oh MY! Steph might be the Yarn Harlot but I may take home the prize for the Yarn Pornographer.

Joyce is the best kind of pole to dance with ;c)

Champagne is clearly at fault

There's a picture of Amy with me at my blog!

Amy,

I have never commented before, but have been a "knittyite" since the inaugural issue. I LOVE Knitty with its mix of interesting articles and patterns. You should be proud for producing something so wonderful and for having the courage to make the leap and follow your dreams full time. Congratulations and good luck!

Congratulations and best of luck!
Looks like the party was a lot of fun. I can't wait to get to Toronto sometime and see Lettuce Knit's new location...

As I was browsing the new issue of knitty, I discovered that the spring issue has been overlooked in the archives. Or am I just benig really discombobulated today?

Found a booboo in the new Kitty.

On the page about fiber festivals....

SAFF URL should be http://www.saffsite.org/

Yummy-looking, cleverly-inscribed cakes, cool people and a whole lotta yarn! What could be better?

Looks like such a blast!

Are you dressed yet? ;)

Came over here re:Stephanie's blog, and have to say the sight of all that brigntly-coloured silk yarn is making me lustful. Thank goodness for the internet, because the nearest yarn shop that even resembles something as nice as LK is at LEAST a 5 hour drive away (and I'm not even sure there's one there--that's just where the capital of Alberta is, and I'm thinking there must be at least ONE decent yarn shop there. The only one I've actually been too was way too crowded, and reminded me of a knitter's closet that hasn't been cleaned out in way too long, because there was no room for ANYTHING else, plus it was really, really small. Surely, there are others, though.)

Sounds like a heck of a party. Wish I coulda been there.

OMG! Knitty made BoingBoing!
http://boingboing.net/

we got boinged! woo hoo!
and to the kind alberta resident, try this: http://www.make1yarns.com/

definitely not an overcrowded closet. i'd say it's worth the 5-hour (?) drive. :-) my friend Amy (there are a lot of Amys in knitting, it seems) owns it.

I just snagged a copy of Big Girl Knits and can't think of anyone who deserves a 9 step commute more (not to mention your success with Knitty). I'm not a big girl but your real-life advice is just what all women need to hear. I laughed all night as I read the book straight through like a novel. The models were beautiful and sexy, and the patterns just as beautiful and sexy. Thanks to you and your co-author for providing a good example for the fashion industry and for knitters. Congradulasions. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Congradulations, I love reading and using Knitty. Best of luck to you and your new stay home job. I envy you.. :)

It looks like you had a grand time! Oh how I wish I could have been there!

wow, that looked such a fun party!

Congratulations, Amy,

and the best of luck to you. I love what you do for the world of knitting!!

Monika from SoCal.

Congratulations on your leap! It's an inspiration to many, to see someone so hardworking find a way to do what they love.

Amy you are devine. It was a great party and you shined warm lights on everyone. I love the book (read it all the way home) and will definitely call on you for help. okay? okay.

BTW, ummm, so like i got home and ummm, well i sent out an email and umm, well, this is what i got back:

Hi Tamarah,
>
> We are so sorry but unfortunately do not have any bags at all in the Parfait (pink color). If you want to join the [Lexie Barnes] mailing list let us know and we can let you know of sales and seconds as soon as they are on the website.
>
> All the best,
> Jessica

I'm on a hunt. Sure i'll get one of the newer ones, but I went to sleep that night repeating over and over in my head: MUST HAVE THE PARFAIT!

So if anyone has an extra Parfait lying around, i am prepared to give it a loving home.

Enjoy living your dream Amy. IT'S REAL!!!!
hugs,
tamarah.

I had a great time visiting the new store on Wednesday. The picture of the LK shoppers is my friends and I. We came we spent and we will be back. What a blast!

Congrats and what a party! Makes me want to move to Toronto to be with the fun partying knitters!
