more attempts at lace-based sanity

You might remember this skein of Seasilk in glacier. It's been staring at me a long time.

Yesterday, I cast on for a Lace Wings shawl [scroll down] -- pattern available only at Lettuce Knit. I made a few changes to the pattern to suit my taste [I added a central rib so I could use YOs instead of KFBs to increase] but otherwise, am happily knitting along on a pattern of someone else's design. It makes me feel even better than the hemp towel does. Sorry, hemp. You're on hold for now.

Seasilk all the time for me, baby.

[I wrote a lot of words this weekend, and yet am not nearly done. If I think about this too much, my brain will make a boomy sound. Instead, I knit seasilk.]

Comments:
we got the new interweave knits for fall in this week at the sheep. It comes with a wee insert of scarf patterns.
So when I started to tidy the shop on the weekend, and oh lookie here a ball of Debbie's Bliss Pure Silk......I now have sofa knitting, and desk knitting. The new lace silk scarf I'm making even got to come home with me.That hardly ever happens, but yeah baby all silk all the time. That and a little dying too. I'm dying fugly yarn, and cool wool. Have a good holiday ,pet bunnies, and hubby. luv toknit ya baby dennyxoxxoxo

That shawl looks fabulous! Hope you can share the pictures when you are finished. That is, if we can get it out of your hands long enough for a photoshoot. :)
=:8

That shawl looks beautiful. I succumbed and let my little inner lemming jump off the cliff - I bought two hanks of Seasilk, and can't wait for it to get here. I just have to figure out what to do with it when it does... other than pet it, I mean.

Amy - looks great! Lovely colourway. I've gotten about five increases up on mine, but I think I'm going to frog and re-start, thanks to some recent, recurring issues that have required un-knitting and re-knitting several times. It's a total delight to knit, however. The pattern is easy, and I know understand why you're all about the seasilk. :)

Luscious, luscious yarn!!Shawl envy! Silk lust. Whine.

sophia, i frogged parts of it at least twice and the whole thing once. just took me a while to get used to the increases on the purl side.

full speed ahead! it's the race for the finished lacewings...who will finish first? the nurse who's moving to ireland? the mild-mannered government employee or the freak who's writing a book and hasn't cleaned the kitchen floor in living memory? tune in and see!

don't forget the teacher on summer vacation! i predict that the september gather will sport a lot of these babies.

One skein of SeaSilk. Check.

Many other projects on the needles, inducing guilt. Check.

Way too much money spent recently on yarn and fiber and a wheel and stuff. Check.

Lace Wings shawl pattern. No check.

Add to must-do list, pronto....

the seasilk is also just enough yarn for the swallowtail shawl from the current interweave knits... I have the ocean color (but it seems to have much less variation than the photo on the handmaiden site) and it's coming along gorgeously.
hard to put down, no?

I am still working on it..I only frogged it once since last Wednesday...it is definitely coming along! Thanx for your encouragement, Amy!
