not quite posie

but so much better.

before [including atypical chaos caused by the having to move stuff around to make room]:

see that little white triangle in the middle? that was my WHOLE desk. it might help explain why i made three grown women and one husband help me get this home in the middle of the night.

thank you, denny, emma, mel and ken. look what you did! all this space! happy sigh.

for those who love office pictures, a little peek [and yes, they're crappy pics. sorry. it's this or nothing today. :-)]

left to right, a wee panorama

and finally, here's the reason that a 70+ lb desk needed to be in my tiny office:

brand name "Invincible". made in Manitowoc, WI, in September 1956. there's a date painted inside. happy 50th birthday, desk. we'll be having a smudging ceremony soon.

happy.

p.s. they still make them. it's called the m-line desk. brand new, current cost is about $1200us. amortize that over 50 years and it's cheap!

Comments:
Thanks for the peek inside your office. "Invincible?" I love it. Your office seems like a welcoming, wonderful place, which makes perfect sense. xoxo

So pleased to see the belly button mantra in its rightful place.

Sing it with me now: d-d-d-Denny and the Desk...

congratulations on tidying up! It looks great.

I also notice that you have one of Lucy Neatby's pink "happy stitch" buttons! Have you gotten to watch her DVDs yet?

Hi Amy,
You have the same editor's desk from Levenger as my mother! She's also an editor--now I know it's a requirement of the job.

Please tell me I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing--do you have a hot pink radiator???

denny......denny....... dennyandthedesk.

It looks so great, so right. Cause you write books eh?

You didn't point out the lovely tubular gift I made you a few Christmases ago. Sniff.

The space looks great.

Thanks for the tour - it's fascinating to see where all the magic happens!

Now I regret getting rid of that Levenger desk.... Shoot. Great idea to put the computer on it.
Congrats!

That desk is such a score. Nice work, everybody! And your office looks like a great place to work.

Hanging that yarn out in the open like that..... it's going to go stale.

Love the pink radiator.

hanging the yarn looks great!

Great desk! When you get tired of singing Denny and the Desk, here's another candidate:

Warning: it rocks.

What a great set up. Now you can hunker down and finalize the winners for the calendar contest!

Okay, now I know that if that is NOT a hot-pink radiator, at least I'm not the only crazy person who thinks so. I hope it is, and now I want one too!

I LOVE the desk. Jealously. And I love the hanging skeins of yarn, too! What a wonderful idea.... hmmm, yarn as decor...

we just put a desk like that out on the street, hoping someone would adopt it. (It came with the house and I already have a beloved old desk.) Sadly, no one claimed it before the garbage truck got it.

That desk is cool. it reminds me of the ones my teachers used to have in elementary school.

Hi Amy. Have you watched the latest Men in Trees? Did you love the Helmet Hat Ann Heche wore? Loved the colors and the pattern. Anyone out there willing to pattern it up for us?

Kathleen

Oh you Bono of Knitting you.

lovelovelovely!

I'm so glad we stopped to rescue the desk!

hi on the yon kipper(sp?)
Hi Ms.J wecome to town, mayby Wed. at L.K.?

In love with and very jealous of your rockin' desk!

(I keep coming back to look at your fabulous pink radiator.)

Want. Desk. Want desk and editor's desk.

Actually, I just want my own fully-outfitted office, preferably with yarn on the walls. Why lie?

Love the desk but I totally need the editors laptop desk thing. Too bad it's discontinued. I've sent DH a link hoping his creativity will be sparked to make me one. :)
