Yarn Peek Thursday, with a twist!

I don't usually do this, but you need to see this...I scoffed a pic of a new wool/silk laceweight from Schaefer yarns, called Trenna. It's available only at Little Knits. 1250 yards in one skein, for $46. Insane.

It's stuff like this that makes my sheepless bone ache. Those of you lucky enough to use it, please blog your results. I am in love, from afar.

wheeeeeeee

I love knitty surprises and gorgeous yarns!

thanks amy!

I want to reach straight into the computer screen and have that. It is so gorgeous. Just think of the wonderful shawl it is holding.

I just ordered a skein in the Rosa Parks colorway as compensation for the fact that I am not going to Rhinebeck. I'm looking forward to some heavy petting this weekend!

So tell me - is it Zephyr? - 50/50 wool and silk - the yardage is right - dyed by Schaefer - like Helen's Lace which is Zephyr dyed by Lorna's Laces.

i dunno! but it's so dang purdy.
sigh.

Schaefer Yarn created this 50/50 wool/silk blend overseas exclusively for Little Knits - we tested out several samples before deciding on Trenna, which we believe has a tight twist and a very soft silky sheen – unlike any other products that may be out there.

You may think that I lived under a rock until now but I was not aware of the Zephyr brand until now. If there is a similarity in products it is completely coincidental.

Hope this answers you question. :)

Amy, thanks for posting that THE DAY BEFORE RHINEBECK!!
Now I'll have to save $46 from my RB loot to buy a skein of that goooorgeousness!

Oh my goodness, wooly goodness. Thank GOODNESS i'm not going to rhinebeck--I would be broke!!!!

Oh my that is beautiful. It makes me wish I were a shawl person because that would be seriously geautiful.

I just saw the yarn and its HEAVENLY!! I was seriously wondering though, how many people would pay that for it. It is so gorgeous though!!!!! I have to buy some!

less than $50 for an entire shawl's worth of hand-dyed silk and wool? i think that's cheap!

I've worked with both Trenna and Zephyr, and they're really pretty dissimilar. Trenna has a tighter twist than Zephyr, is less fuzzy, and has a subtle sheen lacking in Zephyr.

That yarn is VERY cheap at that price!! I went all over Rhinebeck to see if there was anything comparable and I would've been paying EASILY three times the price for something half as good.

I added a skein to my order after calling poor Sue right after Rhinebeck with some SERIOUSLY bad reception on my phone) and asking her to hold my order!! LOL I told her to send me her fave of either French Rococo OR Louisa May Alcott. It was sooo hard narrowing it down to just those two colors. I can't wait to see which she chose!

Amy, any ideas what a nice pattern would be for this yarn? I was thinking maybe the Casino Shawl?

That yarn is SERIOUSLY YUMMY!!! I just have to convince DH that it's the bargain we all know it to be...LOL
