squiggle shawl, I tell ya , Can ya rip that yeti out and knit it with a thin yarn, the pattern is on Knitty under shawls and wraps, and it's called Loppy (right) Knit that one. It will be better, trust me.
And yet you know that there will be many, many people out there who will be more amazed and impressed by this shawl than by anything else you ever knit.
It's not that bad. I mean, yeah, it's gaudy as heck, but that salty ocean spray will bounce right off it while you laugh and enjoy yourself and not worry about water spots or salt stains.
Seriously, what size are those needles? The scene wouldn't look *so* bad if the needles weren't so large. I mean, having those needles means that you're not just having a fling with novelty yarn, but a tawdry affair. They imply that there might be more novelty knitting in your future. 0_o
I'm going to keep in mind the colors from the balls of yarn yesterday, and not say that it looks like raw meat today. ;)
Can't wait to see a sweater with some waist shaping after seeing this. :) Unless the sweater is also made out of novelty yarn. That would be scary, and we'd have to tell Steph to come and take you to the looney bin. :D
needles: 20mm (bought as a GAG to stick in the jar in my office)
attempts with smaller needles (like 15 mm) and non-drop stitch pattern: much more disgusting. like a car accident in cartoon land.
raw meat: absolutely exquisite description. i shall think of it no other way from now on.
currently knitting: vegetable matter only. i cast on for a top-down raglan in the suss twisted (cotton). http://www.sussdesigns.com/knittingSite/productDetail.php?prodID=31#
colorway: moss and sage
sanity status: not yet restored, but at least i feel safer, having backed away from the raw meat.

Oh, my heavens. I thought MY experiment in novelty yarn was bad...but oh, this takes the cake. I call this "roadkill."
Wow, that makes my Rowan Biggy Print (colour: Joker) scarf on the US size 50 (25mm, 1" diameter) needles (http://webhome.idirect.com/~wbd/knitpages/knitpics/biggyscarf1.jpg) look positively normal. My insanity started the other way, though, I inherited the needles with the rest of my grandmother's stash and just had to find something to knit on them.
In case this hasn't happened yet, go get a garbage bag - an opaque garbage bag - and stuff that alleged yarn deep in the bottom. Then clean the bunnies' cages. Take the bag out to the Dumpster and throw it in the farthest corner.
Now go knit some proper yarn, until the willies stop running up and down your spine.
