Knitting in the Knitty household

It continues, really! Want some proof?

I am knitting a SWEATER. Seriously. I have also recently accepted that my knitting has to be near-mindless or I just can't finish anything. So instead of an uber-flattering BGK sweater [which would require me to actually pay attention to a pattern at multiple moments], I'm using some BGK principles and knitting a super-deep V neck top-down raglan with waist shaping. If i were really keen, I'd be adding short rows. One thing at a time, people.

Here's where it is so far:

And a close up of the yarn, which you can find here. It's a great pure cotton yarn -- two strands of different colors twisted together. Knits up nicely...you just have to watch that you catch both strands in every stitch.

It's lovely mindless knitting and it's making me happy. I just might get this one done this century!

Something to save for the future...a treat that came hand-dyed from Scout -- cotton and elastic sock yarn in Knitty-friendly colors!
. Two different approaches, and both are delectable! Thank you, Scout!

And an update to the post about Habu...it's arrived at Jillian's place, and here it is!

Charcoal leaning toward blue. I don't get to touch it for a while, though. But I can look at sweet Henry's face and my yarn any time I want, thanks to this pic.

So there. Knitting continues, along with book writing, magazine producing and occasional laundry washing. Clearly I have my priorities straight!

Comments:
Scout is so awesome. Looks like you have plenty to keep you busy for quite a while!

Hooray! I'm glad it got to you safe and sound!
xo

That is going to be one cute sweater when it's done. Sometimes simple is good; it's easy to work into a wardrobe. I dig the lime green and white yarn, very cheerfull. :D That Habu looks yummy.

I like the sweater you started. It is the kind of sweater I have in my head but I still have to figure out how to knit it.

habu/henry 's gorgeous. and i love the top down raglan. do try it on right now before you knit any further! I've just had two interventions where the knitter was faced with ripping all the way back to the armholes to make their sweaters smaller and more flattering.

i've read big girls and well, you wrote the thing, but that stuff about measuring yourself and applying the numbers: do it.ks

I thought of you at the zoo today!!!

They had these poisonous reptiles called "Habu." "Habu" in Japanese translates out to "oisionous venom"!!! (or at least that's what the sign said!) Are you sure that stuff's OK? ;-)

Sorry, that should read "poisonous"--kitty on keyboard=mispelled words.

OMG! Habu really got me going with their sale now and no matter that the gauge is super thin sometimes I really think their stuff is divine!
And great progress pics, Amy!

The first sweater I finished and actually WORE (third one) was a Knitting Pure and Simple, top-down, shaped, raglan cardigan. I loved the concept/pattern so much, I immediately started another, with my own design touches on the edges. LOVE THAT PATTERN! Already have top down raglan number three percolating in my mind!

Hi, I'm new to knitting and looking for a flattering sweater to make. What is the BGK? Thanks!
