you should be so lucky

...to have a friend like Jillian.

I was too shy [shut up; it's true] to call Habu and see if my dream kit could be made up in non-wool. Cause what if they said no? And then I would cry. I mention this to Miss J and not only does she make it happen -- she picks exactly the right yarns [Habu recommended the combination in kit 19 -- linen paper and silk!] and colors [deep greys]. And orders it on my behalf. And it'll be at her house this week.

I won't be at her house till next month, however. But that just means I'll have time to do the BGK2 writing that needs to be done before the all-consuming knitlust of working on a Habu Kit that will FIT ME and is knit in fibers that I LOVE takes over every waking moment of my life.

J and I have decided "Habu" must be the Japanese word for "love". Don't you think? She also says, "they were really, really nice" about the swapping yarn thing. So if you've been too shy like me, just call them.

Ahhh. Habu.

p.s. I finished the Americo scarfywrap two weeks ago. Maybe I'll get my ass in gear tonight at LK and get someone to snap me in it. It's super-warm. Big love!

Comments:
Jillian is truly wonderful. Actually, you're both wonderful. I love that kit. I was in Habu with a bunch of people and we all tried on the sample of that jacket, and it's true: it looked great on everyone that tried it on.

And how lucky am I? I work 3 blocks from Habu. Must go spend another lunch hour in there...

I'll take your pic.
Mmmmh, burrito!!

Hey, I have that kit! Claudia worked her enably wiles on me at Habu last fall. (I tried the sample on and she told me I had to get it and, well...) I'm glad they can do a sheepless version for you. It's a great pattern...

...and now I'm thinking I need to start it soon... Hmmm...

"Love" in Japanese is "ai." As in "Ai love Habu."

Sounds like great fun.

Aw shucks, I'll shop for you any time : )

Wow. That's an absolutely gorgeous jacket.

I heart Habu. wait...
is that redundant? :o)
anyway, I recently went to a Habu event at my LYS and Takako, the Habu lady, explained how to read Japanese knitting patterns--it was a good think i went because there were several things i did not know and having her explain it helped a lot! I can't wait to see your yarn knit up! Habu is at the top of my list for Stitches West! :o)

Yum. I love Habu. I love Takako. I love all their yarns. Love, love, love, love. I want to knit something out of the pine paper yarn myself...

(it goes without saying that I love Jillian, too)
