more No Sheep yummies

Can you tell I'm having fun? Whee!

First, regarding Amazon and their strangeness, Interweave is looking into it. As soon as they have an answer, I'll share it here. We're sorry they're stressing you out!

Now. More fun!

Karin Maag-Tanchak, one of my new favorite designers, designed the Berthe scarf for No Sheep -- it's her answer [and a brilliant one, if you ask me] to the "what do I do with this one skein of something delicious if I don't want a rectangle?" The version in the book is very different than her original, which she [giggle] knitted in wool. Here's what it looked like:

Isn't that delectable? The one in the book is a little more freeform and textury, and the finished result all depends on the yarn you use and how tightly you knit it. You can get anything from ruffly to perfectly elegantly flat, like the prototype. The pattern lets you be creative. I can't wait to see what you guys do with this one. I think they're going to look like fingerprints...no two will be the same!

Another treat you'll get to see [soon, I hope!] is the sexy 100% hemp Manly Maze sweater, designed by Celeste Culpepper [yup, the Maze beanie is hers, too -- she cleverly designed the beanie as a swatch for the sweater, so she could try out different color combinations before she knit the final sweater.

A sexy man sweater? You bet. Look at this:

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. That's Franklin, modelling the real thing. I had no idea when I taped my episode of Knitty Gritty last fall that Mr Franklin would be on set, but he was! And he couldn't wait to try this sweater on when I pulled it out of the box. I snapped this grainy picture quickly, but you can see how well it suits him. Poifect.

Okay, enough of this. Back to making y'all some spring Knitty!

I heart Franklin. And if Amazon doesn't look like they'll send me my book in time for me to stand in line to make your signing hand cramp at the DKC meeting I'm gonna cancel and buy it from Megan. If she has any left.

I didn't know Franklin, but I just went to his blog and I don't know whether to thank you or be upset that you've introduced me to yet another must-read. He's a treasure! Still waiting for my book...grumble grumble.

Several sellers on half.com have the No Sheep book for sale right now.

My book arrived shortly after I commented, and I just spent my lunch break looking through it. Amy, I'm totally blown away! It looks great, and there are a slew of projects I want to make. Wow! What an accomplishment.

Amy, is the Tuscany shawl pattern available all by itself? Hate to say it, but that's what I like best in NSFY and I can't see buying your book for just one pattern (lovely though it is).

Thanks,

Anne

P.S. I have Big Girl Knits and love it!

Hi, Anne -
Nope, the shawl pattern will be only available in the book. I'm glad to hear you like it!

:-)

Aw, c'mon, Amy!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get out my pattern book and figure it out for myself then. Or something like it.

Wish me luck. ;-)

good luck! it only took me three months to work out.

:-) :-)

Can I leave a long comment?
I'll tell you the story of that picture. The woman wearing the Berthe Collar is Annemarie. See, I had a chocolate shop next door to my yarn shop (I know, what could be better!) and she worked there. We pulled her away from her chocolate counter that day and told her she has to be the model for this yet unnamed circle scarf. We ran around my shop to find a nice closure, and she finally grabbed a dpn that was sitting on the table in front of her and said: What's this? Can't we use this? The rest is history. The picture itself was taken by my knitting friend Laura.
And here you thought that I had all this talent. I really only know how to knit...not much else.:)

I canceled my order with amazon for no sheep and the best socks and ordered from knitpicks.com! They are both on the way as I type. Should be here by the end of the week.

I've had the same problem with Amazon for two other Interweave books--I don't think that it's just yours that is the issue! I'll just pick it up somewhere else instead--the discount isn't worth the wait!

The sexy man sweater alone has sold the book to me. I will piss off my husband in a wee moment by ordering it. A confession however, I will be knitting it with wool. Is that a sin? Will i be punished?

hey, if you can use wool, you are a lucky knitter! no one judges in No Sheep land. it's all kumbaya around the campfire here.

pass the marshmallows, will ya?

Great. Now I'll have that song in my head all day. Bring cupcakes tonight and I'll forgive you.

Or marhsmallows. I'm probably cheap enough to be bought off with marshmallows. Is that a bad thing?

cupcakes are in the plan. i haven't had one since...Friday? how is that possible? how am i even still alive?

Yaaaay, cupcakes. I've been waiting for them!

Cupcakes!

Hemp!

I'm in.

I love all the things you've been showing. Time to order!

Amy, my book just came! I love it!! The shawl is to die for! Everything is wonderful! I would make everything in it! (not just sucking up either!)
Thank you for a great book.
