i dood it.

And it was good, dude. [Sorry. I'm a little punchy.]

First, we begin with an early snap of Michelle and Jacquie. Notice both are wearing gorgeousness of handknitting:

Also notice the emptiness of the room. Me trying not to panic. Much plugging in of electronics ensued, and then the sweater arrived:

Really, all eyes were on the sweater, because I have never seen anything quite like it. It stopped being yarn and became a painting in wool. I couldn't take my eyes off it. Oh, Steph looked nice, too. :-)

And then it was time to talk. Look at what I saw from the podium:

Mighty nice.

There was talking, there was clicking of mouses and big pictures on the screen, there was talk of wool and mostly non-wool yarns and lots of good questions from the audience. A great night. The trunk show was a hit, too!

Then we headed off to Lettuce Knit for a post-DKC party. A little bubbly [thanks, Megan!] and an impromptu 2nd appearance of the trunk show for those who missed the guild. Feedback continues to be good. Rock.

And that's all! I've got tons of BGK2 work to do, and my sister and her hub are visiting from Chicago, so I'd better get to it! Thanks to everyone for coming out last night, and especially for Jacquie for asking me to speak and just generally being a great friend.

Looks like it was amazing! :) Hooray for macs!

Sounds like you were more than good! And not to hijack your post, OMG that sweater is jaw dropping amazing!

sounds like a blast! come to ny already, wouldja???

I keep picking the wrong days to leave Lettuce knit early! I'm glad your talk went well. I wish I could've seen the 'tickle-trunk'!

You did done good!! Amanda & I had fun and she (okay I) got a kick out of seeing us in your picture of the audience.

Thanks again, Amy! You rawked the non-wooly goodness!

BTW - Don't forget to mention that the reason two rows are empty is because they are broken and roped off! People were pushed to the side rows, which you can't see in your picture. It was a good showing from knittin' peeps.

You were fabulous darling. Great job.

Can't wait till August and you are here in Philadelphia!!

I am very much looking forward to a chance to read/play with your new book. Glad it has been such a success so far.

Completely off topic, the New York Times has a picture of a (knitty?) knitted uterus today:

Wow! Come to OKLAHOMA! I voted for you to come here! I am sure you dood good. (my 5 year old says dood good all that time!)

Sorry I couldn't go. I was feeling really bad. I didn't even eat my (gasp) burrito!

I love auditorium/big gathering shots of knitters. It's so fun seeing all those hands up in "don't mind me, just working on my current WIP" position!

I don't think I'd seen a picture of the finished Bohus yet. You captured it beautifully! (And Stephanie too of course!)

Amy,

You were fabulous dharaling - as always. It was a great knitting night catching up with buddies and hearing you talk.

i thought about you last night, alone as i was in my b-ton basement. and i'm wearing your lipgloss right now, as i head into parent-teacher interviews. i'm sure your luck will be benignly transfered to me through the gloss. mwah!

You were great. The sweater thanks you.

Now I really wish I had driven to TO yesterday (even if it would have been a turnaround trip)!

Really enjoyed the evening. You were nervous for no reason. You speak beautifully.
I got a great photo of you and would love to send it along but I don't have your email. Check out my blog to see your loveliness.

i just wanted to let you know how very much i appreciate BGK.

when i started knitting two years ago, i learned to stick to hats, scarves, and shawls because sweaters were never written in my size and i wasn't technically confident enough to change the patterns. there were many tears as i knit beautiful garments for my "normal sized" friends. then i found your book.

you changed my life and fostered a love of knitting on a whole new level for me. thank you so much for that!

i am looking forward to BGK2!

(sorry this is so long, and if i accidentally posted twice.)

Really enjoyed the evening Amy! Your talk was inspiring (I'm a woolly knitter who is occasionally lured by silk, and now fancying a dallience with bamboo, hemp, or .... :-)) Your mix of humour, great illustrations, and techy talk, delighted and informed all. Thanks!

Your use of cunning technical terms (like 'goop') is fantastic.

I really do forget what spoiled brats we are in T.O. ... until we end up in a room with you and Stephanie and Fiona Ellis &c.
...and you all know us! How lucky are we??

You were so awesome. I mean, I know you had great material to work from but you are also a really excellent public speaker. I had a blast, completely lost track of time and learnt a ton! Yay Amy!

I missed it......sorry, jet lag and then family stuff.

Will you still be my friend. We can looking for metal desks(on the side of the road) soon. sounds like ya done good girlfriend,
are we still friends????

My only consolation is that Amazon tells me that my order (your book and Stephanie's new one) has been shipped.

I'm back in Montréal, already missing Toronto... It was great, I really enjoyed your presentation, the trunk show, and the bubbles! Thanks!
