small infusion of sanity

Knitty production is hot and heavy now and has been for days. Knitting my complex-yet-beautiful sweater doesn't give me the mental break I need.

But this will:

Wanna see the yarn I'm going to use up close?

I found the pattern here: the purl bee - Purl Beret - Beret Pattern. It calls for Koigu, and I can't think of a better No Sheep sub than Sock Candy. Why this color? Simple. When I was at Rhinebeck last fall, there was one lone skein of this Pretty in Pink. It called to me. But what the hell do you do with one skein of sock yarn?

Clearly it knew I would want to knit it into a beret several months later. Sock Candy is clever that way. Let's hear it for the Sanity Beret!

Yay for sock yarn sanity.

The sock candy looks very pretty and squishy, and your sweater is coming along so nicely. I'm writing because I wanted to tell you that I tried Vicki Howell's new yarn recently and you might like it. 2 out of the 3 don't have any wool (Craft and Love). I've only tried Love (it's bamboo and silk) and it's so dreamy. Craft is Organic Cotton and Milk Protein. When I saw them I thought of you because they are great and they have no wool at all. Have fun putting together the new knitty!

Hey, speaking of Blue Moon, any news on new Sock Candy colours? Special ones?

I'm going to start calling you Pinky Tuscandero.

Beautiful color, pink happens to be my favorite!
I have only used STR from Blue Moon, (which is heavenly!) but I may have to try some of their other yarns.

Hey, five stars!

I just knit this beret myself! (it's a keeper) though I used koigu...that pretty in pink is perfect, so great!
