today [a summary]

I'm in the thick of the winter Knitty slog, so this will be short.

- for those at LK last night, and those who love bunnies, the news: Boeing [who is acting fine and wonderful now] does have a 12mm-long stone in her bladder. our vet says we can try antibios, which will help if it's one kind of stone. if in 6 weeks the stone isn't smaller, then it's the other kind that can only be fixed with surgery. in any case, all bunnies in this house will be transitioned to a new low-calcium diet.

- hub now has caught up to me. we both need, um, several different levels of focus in one lens. and my RX has changed a little too. so we both ordered new glasses today. the frames are never the financial problem, but our lenses are over $400 a pair. for each of us. very, very painful.

- I made a mess with Laura last night, and it was wonderful. Laura is the queen of the chemicals. [more on this later, if I'm allowed to.]

- really, can't talk. Knitty. bye.

As a fellow glasses wearer, I feel your pain. I actually just read an article about the high cost of glasses and the new trend of buying them online for wayyyy cheaper.

http://www.43folders.com/2007/11/29/adventures-40-eyeglasses

Just thought I would pass that along since I was so excited to find out about the availibilty of reasonably priced glasses online!

p.s. <3 Knitty, can't wait for the winter issue

Big nose bumps to the buns. I am thinking good thoughts for you and them. We are dealing with a serious case of Pateurella right now, so I feel for you. Especially when it comes to the prospect of surgery, medication, worry...Keep us posted!
Hope you are finding some time to de-stress yourself amidst the Knitty pre-issue chaos! New glasses will help, no matter how painful the expense. Rough week, lady! Stay cool and be sure to get yourself some good fibre therapy.

Here's wishing the best for the bunny, and hoping that you survive it through the Kitty slog. if there's anything I can do to help, you know where to find me! *hugs*

Oh dear 12mm sounds so big! I hope she doesn't hurt too much. I hope it goes down quickly.

well, the good thing about bunnies (i guess it's good) is that, if it hurts, you know by how she acts. she's acting fine, which means it must have gotten in a painful spot last week -- the reason we knew something was wrong -- and then moved out of the way soon after.

vet says it's much more problematic with boy bunnies, but with our girl, we can try this more gentle approach and see if we can avoid surgery.

of course, boeing wouldn't say shoving a syringe of banana-flavored antibios down her face twice a day is gentle, but then she's just a bunny. :-)

So very sorry to hear about Boeing's stone - I can't help but think about how big 12mm is in relation to the size of even a big bunny. At least the meds are banana flavoured - or is she not so easily fooled?

After Knitty's out of the way you'll have to fill me in on the low calcium bunny diet - I'd hate to encounter such difficulty with our guy.

Let me know if I can help

OY! That's a lot of fiber money! Hope the buns are feeling better on their new diet and you and hub can see more clearly. :)

i totally hear your pain with the cost of lenses. i've been putting it off. the hubby with good vision 20/15 (grr) doesn't understand why my lenses cost so much. *sigh*
