this is when it gets quiet around here

but since it's for a good reason, i hope you'll forgive me.

all is well! very busy, coding, thinking, planning. time for another one of those "what i'm thinking about" posts:

- did you hear the latest Cast On? [hint: i'm in a bit of it :-)]. i don't call Knitty a "zine" however. we're an online magazine. that's probably just semantics, but i'm big on semantics, me. :-) in any case, really interesting perspective from the Anticraft, Weavezine and Magknits editrixes...we should all have coffee one day. can you imagine the talk at that table?

- my mindless projects are going well, but i am aching to knit something more to wear. so it's back into active duty for cables & os. current state: one front nearly complete. the back and other front to do, plus sleeves. [this one is knit in the round to the armholes, so it's a lot less work left to do than it sounds]

- the voices that are making Knitty happen this time are rickie lee jones, patty griffin, patty larkin, dar williams, jason mraz, joni mitchell, james taylor, natalie merchant, shawn colvin, sonia dada, erykah badu and the be good tanyas.

- i believe i'll be knitting a ysolda-y slouchy beret before the week is out. in pale blue raw silk from Fiddlesticks

and that is all. back to work! [is there an emoticon for a whip cracking? :-)]

Comments:
Good luck! We're all waiting eagerly for the new issue.

Well, GMTA - I just cast on that very same hat! A bit of Noro was languishing in my stash and was begging to be knit into this gorgeous hat!

I heard a rumour that we'll be seeing Mandy back at work at the yarn shop this week... means you're close, right? :) Happy working!

keep it light enough to travel ;)

Hey Amy,

I don't know if you have listened to my podcast but I wanted to know if I could PLEASE do a book review with you on an episode for the new Big Girl Knits coming out?

Please, email me to let me know what you think.

just stalking for the new issue......picture me here in Michigan... face pressed against the computer screen trying to peek into the new knitty...chanting.. "Open, open, open" like in the old Kohl's commercial.....

Amy, have you checked out the bunny pics on cuteoverload.com today? Totally buntacular. I want a rabit! cute cute cute.

Hi Amy

I listened to the podcast this morning on the way to work - very interesting.

I thought you sounded different to real life - maybe it's the phone to podcast to ipod translation!

Looking forward to spring Knitty - the sun is shinning in London and I am feeling very spring like!

You got good taste in music, girl, can I come knit while you slave away? I'll bring you tea and crumpets when you're feeling peckish, do the rah rah Knitty cheer when you're stressed, and bring out the cashmere when you click the Publish button for the last time!

bekky -- i had a cold when i did the interview. i sounded a little more like brenda vaccaro than i usually do.

lynn -- you were rocking until you hit the cashmere. weep. :-)

everyone else, thank you! i'm going back under now. see you in a few days!

I've always wanted to quote this line to someone:

I'm in a halfway house on a one-way street.

One copy-editing knitter here; I agree with you on Knitty being an online magazine rather than a 'zine. A 'zine, IMO and IME, is a specific subset of small-run publications.

Hey, language matters. ;)

Yippee! Clicking like crazy on all the new goodies!

Hy Amy and friendly greetings from Brazil!
I ´ve just received your newsletter telling about the new issue of Knitty.
Like it always happen, I felt in love with one of the patterns (Nob Hill), but I have a big doubt regarding the suggested materials. Is the quantity right? For such a small shrug isn´t 600gr in MC + 200 in CC a bit too much? I know the suggested yarn is a super chunky one, but anyway, I still believe it is too much.
Can you please clarify my big doubt?
Thanks a lot for you kidness,
Grace

LOL. I consider WeaveZine an online magazine instead of a 'zine, even if...um..."Zine" is in the name. Does that make me contrary?

Coffee sounds fun, give me a 'yo' if you're ever in the Seattle area. ;>
