we interrupt this self-inflicted blog silence...

...to let you know that one of my favorite books EVER is available for free download here. Neverwhere is fantastic [in the dictionary sense of the word], captivating, evil [in the deepest sense of the word] and unstoppable reading.

Good thing, too, because the free book -- to read online or download -- will only be available for a month. Not sure how they've done it, but if you download the PDF version, it will only work for a month from today. Cool.

Go! Get it!

I'm going back to work.

That's so funny-- I just finished listening to Neverwhere on Monday! I highly recommend the audiobook of the Author's preferred text-- read by Neil Gaiman himself! He's a wonderful narrator, and you know that the voices he's using are the ones he had in his head while writing... excellent book-- I second the recommendation!

Hi
Have been reading your blog for a while and I love the recommendation you make... Feel free to add more... Always looking for a good book !

Thank you for the heads up, he's one of my favorites!

Thanks - I'll give the book a read.

Not that I have time to read, but I'm downloading it with the intention of reading it... some day... maybe after the boxes are gone... if they are ever gone. *shakes fist at the heavens*

Ha, that's also one of my favouritest books of all time, ever :)

I wonder if Neil Gaiman plays the ukulele?

Too awesome. I lurve Neil Gaiman with a (slightly obsessive) fiery passion. Ever since I heard him read a bit of Coraline on MPR...

I just finished listening to Neverwhere and really enjoyed it. Having Neil Gaiman read his book to me is heavenly! What is it about that British accent that is so appealing, anyway?!

Thanks for the info on the book. I can't wait to read it.

Already got it! I bought that book a couple weeks ago to take on holidays and it was just as good as American Gods (which if you haven't read yet, I highly recommend!)

OMG yes! One of the best books I've ever read! THanks! That's almost as good as having the Fall Knitty go live ...

I'm looking at the paperback of that book right now, and I still haven't read it! I think I'll read it now!

Sing it, my sister - definitely one of my desert-island-scenario picks, and the best bad guys EVER.

Thanks for the heads up!

One of the best books he has ever written and the BBC mini-series it's based on is even better.

Boo - I wanted to read it and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately the download doesn't work for me since I'm in Australia.

Oh well.

You know that the BBC made it into a TV series, right (available now on DVD, not sure about which regions).
