much better.

I walked into the salon with my chopped-off mess, removed my baseball cap and, no kidding, everyone in the salon gasped audibly. There was head shaking. My guy came over and ran his fingers through the chopped-up mess and didn't seem worried.

I'd gotten, it seems, one of the technically worst haircuts ever seen. Proportions? Non-existant. I looked like I was losing my hair on the left side [not joking] it was chopped up so unevenly and so short, and I had a big DuranDuran bang that didn't belong anywhere. The before pictures I took [yes, Anonymous, I did take them, but you'll never see them] aren't even clear enough to see how bad it was.

But here are the after pictures. The pink is something I had done ages ago and there's still enough left to see it. [I do love it.]

The bang now makes sense in context with the hair, having been properly layered and angled into the rest of it. Everything else is pretty much Demi Moore in GI Jane, but on purpose this time. I don't look like a 6-year-old hacked at me with blunt scissors.

I can't explain why the same woman who gave my friend J a fabulous, perfectly suited to her, proportional and well-executed cut could mess up so badly on me. But I am grateful that my guy is good natured and likes a challenge. He actually said he was glad I had this done so that he could try super-short on me. That's my boy.

So now if you see me at Rhinebeck, you'll know it's actually me.

I'm off to cast on an Urchin in my handspun. I think my head will be colder this winter than usual. :-)

Suits you! Thank goodness for GOOD hairdressers!

The great thing about hair?...it keeps growing back. I know, that isn't very good consolation when you've just had your hair hacked at by the worst of the worst, but just know that there is still hope.
That and I think your Repair Stylist did a fine job fixing it for you. LOVE the pink streak! You look fantastic!

Super-short is SUPER-cute on you!

And I love the pink streak, but you probably knew that. :D

Looks Great! And the pink streak is so appropriate for this weekend's Run for the Cure! - Terrific time to let your pink shine!

Oh yeah! Put on some funky earrings and rock on with your bad self!

It won't make you feel better necessarily, but keep in mind that J has a much different type of hair (if I know which J you're talking about :D) and some hairstylists are really only good at one type of hair.

The super short cut really does suit you, and I also love that fabulous pink streak!

As one who preferrs really dang short hair: HATS. Hats and using the hood on hoodies. It is the only way to keep it warm.

That said, do you have naturally curly hair? I need a haircut soon (TOO LONG) and I reaaaaaally like yours! But I don't know if it would function with my hair's nature.

cyndilou -- not THAT J -- it's not jillian's hairdresser i went to! :-) it's a local friend and i don't feel like making her uncomfortable. she *does* have different hair from me, but not that different. :-)

and djinn, i have a little wave in my hair, but not any curl.

thanks, guys! :-)

It's so cute! I'm glad it worked out. I had a near hair scare this morning myself, so I completely understand. (It's never good when you call your salon to tell them you are running late, would you please tell so-and-so and they tell you that she doesn't work anymore. "We're sorry no one called to tell you we switched you." Fortunately, the new girl, while annoying, was good.
I love the pink! I wish I was brave enough to put a big old streak of red in my almost-black hair.

It looks great! And I love the pink!

You look awesome in short hair! Tres chic! And, it shows off the pink!

Well the good news is, you look fabulous in short hair!! Sorry that happened to you, I have had my share of horror hair stories, and I can soooo commiserate!

I feel your pain, you know I do! But the upside is we both ended up with AWESOME haircuts and that is what counts. You look totally cute with the new style, and I love that you can see the pink streak much more strongly too!

The New haircut looks fabulous. Everyone will love it at Rhinebeck. Sorry to hear about your trouble with the recommended shop. I too, thought J had a great cut and almost took the recommendation (if you remember she gave us each the phone number that night)but the next day a friend gave me the head's up on a curly hair specialist. I went and am thrilled with my cut! Curl Ambassadors on Harbord. Angela is my new favourite stylist. I have my real curls back with no frizz!

Cheryl

Oh, you're adorable no matter what your hair looks like. The new style makes you look especially fierce and trendy all at once!

Oh the violence! You did a great job of bouncing back because you have good friends who care about you. My daughter cuts her own really short and a bit spiky hair. We can't go anywhere without everybody commenting how much they love it. She was just about mugged by a hairdresser in the mall, yesterday, who was trying to figure out her secret.
You ended up looking great. This is the equivalent of frogging a mistake for victory.

It might not be what you had had in mind, but Amy, it looks just fabulous!! The pink in those bangs is totally awesome. It's hot (even if your head may get cold!)

Total flashback to myself in the 90s. This was totally my college hair. Can grunge make a resurgence too? Now give me the big, comfy plaid flannels please.

This is why everyone cries at make-over time on ANTM. Thanks goodness it turned out cute in the end!

I'm just glad I know who to look for now at the airport!

I'm so glad that you got it sorted! There's nothing wrong with wearing hats, but having to wear one bites.

I love your hair!! Sorry for the initial trauma, but the end is worth it. Forget the hats, it's time for scarves to wrap around your neck on a chilly day!!

Marsha

Damn, Amy, this looks amazing!! So fun and flattering.

Oi! Super cute!
