Cords (Make
2)
Using dpns, CO 3 sts. Work I-cord for 16 inches
(40cm). BO all sts.
Tie one end of one cord into an overhand knot. Make
a loop at end of second cord, just large enough
for knot to fit through. Use yarn tail at end of
cord to sew loop securely. Weave in rem ends.
NOTES:
If desired, 0.25 inch ribbon can be used in place
of knitted cords. Instead of tying a knot, sew a
button to end of one ribbon.
The Fair Isle version uses twisted cords made with
three strands of yarn and a single button rather
than i-cord ties. Cut three 1-yard lengths of yarn
and tie one end to a fixed object. Twist the other
end until the cord kinks up on itself. Holding all
6 yarn ends together, allow the cord to twist around
itself along its length. Knot the loose ends. Make
second cord as first, sliding a button to the center
of the length of yarn before twisting.
Spice sachet
Cut two circles of fabric, the same size as the
base pieces. Place fabric circles right sides together
and, using a half-inch seam allowance, sew circles
together around perimeter, leaving a small opening
(about 1.5 or 2 inches).
Turn right side out. Fill loosely with whole cloves,
lavender blossoms, or other desired herbs or spices.
Do not overfill, or teapot will not sit flat. Sew
sachet closed and place inside pocket in bottom
of cozy.
