INTRODUCTION

Indigopie

beauty shot

Tangy

This sweater started with a desire for a Japanese style oversized sweater, combined with Elizabeth Zimmermann’s simple pi shawl. At first I imagined a pi shawl with a split and just the bottoms sewn shut, but turns out that makes you look like a bat.

This sweater is a hybrid of those two ideas, with the same rapid ruffling increases at the shoulder, but with short row shaping for a curved hem that helps lengthen the body. It's worked from the top down in one piece. To create the dolman-style sleeve, a small seam is sewn in the underarms, but otherwise this sweater is finish-free!

This sweater is easy to customize for your own fit. For full-length sleeves, just keep knitting. For a longer torso, knit further before starting the short-row shaping. The options are vast. I hope you’ll cast on for your own Indigopie, a casual comfy sweater to wear with your favorite jeans.
