INTRODUCTION

Pistachio Saffron

beauty shot

Tangy

I love the casual elegance of a knitted sweatshirt. The loose swing that's easy to wear with anything. Throw it over a casual dress or jeans and you won't feel the cold in the evening!

This sweater is knit from the top down with a wide neck, sleeves, and A-line body shaping. It's designed to be worn with plenty of ease so that it swings around your body. If you would prefer something more fitted, drop down a size and maybe even omit the A-line body increases.

PATTERN NOTES

[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here.]

German Short Rows
Work to turning point, turn work. Slp wyif. Pull yarn over right needle to back of work, creating a "double stitch" on the right needle then bring yarn back into correct position for next stitch, making sure the previous stitch stays "doubled". Continue to work row as indicated.
When you encounter this "double stitch" on another row, knit (or purl) it as a single stitch.

Stripe Pattern
Set-up round: Knit to color change marker with MC.
Knit 2 rnds in CC.
Knit 12 rnds in MC.
Rep last 14 rnds for patt.

Jogless Stripes
Before changing color, work the last stitch of the previous color by double wrapping the last stitch of the round. Change to new colour and work rnd to the double wrapped stitch, then knit stitch, dropping extra wrap. Slip marker for start of new color, then picking up behind work, pick up right half of last stitch worked in previous color and place on left needle. Knit this picked-up stitch with the next stitch on needle.
For more jogless stripe methods, click here.

Neck Bind-Off
Step 1. With RH needle, pick up a loop of the contrasting color 6 rows below next stitch on LH needle (this will be the pick-up edge).
Step 2. Slip the picked-up stitch to LH needle and knit it together with the following stitch on the needle.
Step 3. Pick up loop 6 rows below next stitch and knit together with following stitch on LH needle.
Step 4. Lift the second loop on the RH needle over the first to BO 1 stitch.
Repeat Steps 3-4 until all stitches have been bound off.
