INTRODUCTION

Welcome Welcome!

beauty shot

Piquant

Sometimes I really want to sink into a deep sea of soft garments when I am exhausted and frustrated. Or how about just give up everything and dive into a shark's mouth? Maybe he can chew up your every trouble and pat you with his bright teeth!

This wide-open shark’s mouth could be a warm shelter! Or he can sustain you with the strength of his teeth.

Doesn’t he look adorable in this soft and fluffy alpaca yarn?

Come on, just forget everything and dive in. He will welcome you. I swear!

Welcome welcome!

PATTERN NOTES

[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here.]

They yarn used is light and airy and the chart is worked back and forth using the intarsia method. Do not be tempted to knit in the round, as the yarn will have to be cut every row and there will be numerous ends to weave in in a fairly open fabric.

The Stripe Pattern forms the background in 12-row stripes of MC1 and MC2. Maintain this stripe pattern while working the shark chart in intarsia.

Stripe Pattern
Work 12 rows with MC2.
Work 12 rows with MC1.
Rep these 24 rows for patt.

Rib Pattern
Row 1 [RS]: (K1, p1) to last st, k1.
Row 2 [WS]: (P1, k1) to last st, p1.
Rep these 2 rows for patt.

Embroidery:
Embroidery is used for the finishing text and teeth on the shark. Use the Embroidery Chart for guidance.

"WELCOME" text is embroidered using chain stitch. A tutorial can be found here.

Create "guidelines" for the teeth using running stitch and one strand of MC1. Using two strands of MC1, fill in teeth using satin stitch. A tutorial for satin stitch count be found here.
