This Fair Isle cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up. Flanked by corrugated ribbing, this cowl's palette runs hot and cold by using two ombré yarns. The gradient works its magic and makes it look like you do more work than you actually have to!

Freia Fine Handpaints Ombré Worsted [100% wool; 127 yd/115 m per 75g skein];
[MC] Flare; 1 skein
[CC] Blue Velvet; 1 skein

Recommended needle size

1 US #8/5 mm circular needle, 24 inch/61 cm long

GAUGE

18 sts/24 rounds = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch
19 sts/25 rounds = 4 inches/10 cm in Fair Isle pattern, after blocking

Technique:

• Twisted German Cast On

CHARTS

DIRECTIONS

Cowl
With CC using Twisted German CO method, CO 120 sts. Place marker and join for working in the round.

Lower ribbing: [K1 in CC, p1 in MC] around.
Work ribbing as set for 5 rounds in total.

Knit 1 round in MC.

Body round: work chart 12 times around.
Work as set until you have completed chart.

Knit 1 round in CC.
Upper ribbing: [K1 in MC, p1 in CC] around.
Work ribbing as set for 5 rounds.

BO purlwise in CC.

FINISHING

Weave in all loose ends with tapestry needle.

Block well.
