INTRODUCTION

Wrapid

beauty shotby

Tangy

Springtime makes me think of fun cafes, outdoor markets and activities. I wanted a quick-to-knit top that allows for the usual ebb and flow of our body shape, and a wrap was the perfect solution.

Wrapid is worked in one piece to the underarms, then divided for the armholes. Sleeves are worked separately, then sewn in for a more polished look. Stitches for the belt are picked up and worked outwards.

Wear it over a structured shirt or a minimal camisole or tank - whatever feels right to you.

MATERIALS

Yarn
spacer Berroco Splash [70% viscose, 30% organic cotton; 131yd/120m per 1.75 oz/50 g skein]; color: Big Sur 2410; 5[6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 12, 13] skeins

Yarn Characteristics
spacer The sample shown uses a DK-weight yarn made of a breathable viscose and organic cotton blend in a chainette construction. This blend of materials allows for clear stitch definition and drape. It will soften with each wash, and some stretch is natural over time. To reduce this, wash gently by hand and dry flat. Store sweater flat (not on a hanger). A plied DK-weight cotton, hemp, or linen yarn would be a good substitute, especially if it's machine washable and dryable to help return the top to its original dimensions.

Recommended needle size
[always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed below - every knitter's gauge is unique]
spacer 1 US 7/4.5mm circular needle, 32 inches/80 cm long or longer

Notions
spacer 2 stitch markers
spacer 2 removable stitch markers
spacer 2 removable stitch markers waste yarn or stitch holders

GAUGE

18 sts/27 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in pattern stitch.

Note: gauge is always measured after blocking.

PATTERN NOTES

[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here.]

Construction method:
The body of the garment is worked in one piece to the underarms, then divided for the armholes. The sleeves are worked separately, then set in. Stitches for the belt are picked up from each front edge and worked outwards.

What size to knit:
Choose a size closest to your actual chest measurement or a little smaller, especially if knitting in the yarn shown. If using a different yarn with less stretch, stick close to your actual chest measurement.
