Social Media Marketing Intern wanted @ Knitty Magazine
transition: max-height 0.2s ease-out; }Effective April 29, 2024
Knitty's overtasked Editor requires the assistance of a Social Media Intern to create engaging images with accompanying text to be posted on Knitty's social media channels.
Knitty magazine (knitty.com) has been publishing free knitting and crochet patterns since 2002. We have 120k+ likes on Facebook and almost 30k likes on Instagram. We have grown exclusively through word of mouth over the last 21 years, and now need to get out the word to more knitters and crocheters. We have thousands of patterns in our Library.
The position: The successful candidate will choose patterns from our back issues to feature that are currently appealing (don't pick the fuzzy yarn ponchos, for example), create an engaging image using text and the pattern image to post on both Instagram and Facebook, and repurpose the introductory text from the pattern into a short, interesting teaser caption. Our goal for this position is to bank as many posts as possible for long-term publicity – at least 100, and more if possible. Successful Candidate will need familiarity with graphic design, simple spreadsheets (no formulas required) and Dropbox, and a basic understanding of knitting and crochet.
Work can be completed on Candidate's schedule, as flexible as necessary. The successful Candidate will set reasonable deadlines for deliverables that they can meet, and communicate professionally.
To apply, create two potential images with accompanying copy, and tell me what you know about knitting and fibercraft in general. Email your work and letter to knittyjobs AT gmail DOT com no later than May 6th, 2024. Knitty will not use images provided by candidates not selected for the position – your work will remain YOUR work.
Applications that do not contain the requested items will not get a response. Others will be contacted by email no later than May 15th, 2024.
The successful candidate will be credited on Knitty Magazine's masthead as Social Media Marketing Intern. I write a kickass reference letter. A one-time bonus honorarium payment will be negotiated to mutual agreement with the successful candidate. All terms including how many deliverables, when they will be delivered, and other relevant questions will be negotiated between the successful candidate and editor Amy (me).
Thanks to everyone for considering this posting, and best of luck to the applicants!
