INTRODUCTION

Greenstone

beauty shot

by

Tangy

While planning for an upcoming trip to Isle Royale National Park, I considered the ideal camping sweater. It should be warm to account for cold nights under the stars. It should be lightweight but sturdy for stowing in a pack. It should be adaptable and useful in changing weather and conditions. It should also be comfortable and look great when we return to civilization. Of those requirements, Greenstone was born! Detachable sleeves give options for all seasons and add design interest. The non-superwash wool is a workhorse that keeps its shape and insulating properties even in damp conditions. It is airy and light, and if you haven't tried a fingering-weight sweater yet, you may be a convert after this one!

PATTERN NOTES

[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here.]

Construction Method: This pullover is worked in one piece in the round from the bottom to the armholes with optional short rows at the middle back. The front and back are worked flat separately. The shoulders are joined using a three-needle bind-off. Sleeves and collar ribbing are picked up and knit in the round. Lower sleeves are knit separately in the round.
