Ironically, spring in Colorado brings one of our snowiest seasons. Bulbs poking through the ground, warm temperatures and buds appearing on the trees pose no deterrent to the frequent downfall of a short-lived spring snow.

Who wants to wear the same winter clothing you've been donning for months when the promise of spring is evident everywhere, from the fresh perennial offshoots to the bikinis calling you from every store? Turn your back on the occasionally inclement weather by donning Cambio.

Sassy, sexy and flirty, peek-a-boo beads in the pleats mimic the fickle spring sun. Hook and Eye closures adapt for total coverage or just warm shoulders.

Beading needle or dental floss threader for threading needles onto yarn
Approx 10[11, 11, 12] inches black hook and eye tape
Approx 1-2 yds Bordeaux velvet ribbon (optional)

24 sts/32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

To knit with beads, string beads on yarn before casting on. When pattern call for a bead ("slb"), slide one bead up the yarn to rest next to the stitch just worked, then work the next stitch normally. The bead sits on a short length of yarn between the stitches.

Since it is time-consuming and at times arduous to string thousands of beads at once and to keep moving them down the length of yarn you are working with, we recommend stringing only a couple hundred beads at a time. When the beads on the yarn are used up, break the yarn and string more beads.

ABBREVIATIONS

slb: slip one bead up the working yarn to rest next to the st just worked.
k3tog: knit 3 sts together
k3togtbl: knit 3 sts together through back loops (creates a left-leaning double decrease)

DO NOT join.

Rows 1, 3, 5, 7,9 [WS]: [P5, k1, (slb, k1) 5 times] to last 6 sts, p6.

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 [RS]: K6, [p6, k5] to end.

Row 10 [RS]: K6, [p2tog tbl, p2, p2tog, k5] to end.

Rows 11, 13, 15, 17 [WS]: [P5, k1, (slb, k1) 3 times] to last 6 sts, p6.

Rows 12, 14,16, 18 [RS]: K6, [p4, k5] to end.

Using shorter circular needle, CO 121[132,154,165] sts. Place marker and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. (When working sleeves, switch to double-point needles when necessary.)
Rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, 9: [K5, p1, (slb, p1) 5 times] around.
Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8: [K5, p6] around.
Round 10: [K5, p2tog tbl, p2, p2tog] around.
Rounds 11, 13, 15, 17: [K5, p1 (slb, p1) 3 times] around.
Rounds 12, 14, 16, 18: [K5, p4] around.
Round 20: [K5, p2togtbl, p2tog] around.
Rounds 21, 23, 25, 27, 29: [K5, p1 slb, p1] around.
Rounds 22, 24, 26, 28: [K5, p2] around.

Sew sleeves to body at underarms and weave in ends. Block to measurements.

Sew hook and eye tape to inside front edges between bottom of neck shaping, and purl ridge above lower pleats.

Using coordinating thread, sew velvet ribbon around inner neck edge of cardigan, and along front edge of cardigan over hook and eye tape (leaving hooks and eyes free). This provides stability, prevents curling, and adds an extra fancy touch!
