Already impatient to wear your spring dresses and tanks, but faced with the reality of chilly weather? Plagued by over-zealous air-conditioning? Knit up this ballet wrap-style cardigan and stay warm while feeling springy.

Dress the simple shape up or down with your ribbon selection -- or forego the ribbon entirely and use snaps. Or get extra-fancy...sew snaps to the cardigan and to several ribbons, then change the ribbons to suit your mood.

Using 3 sts on DPN as base, work I cord BO across 30[36, 40, 46] sts of back as follows:

Using second DPN, * k2, sl1, k1 st from back, psso. Slide 3 sts on DPN to other end (without turning). Rep from * until all sts from back have been worked.

Graft 3 sts on needle to 3 holder sts from left front.

Sew underarm seams.

Sew fronts to back at sides, leaving 2 inches after seed st border on left side unsewn.

Cut ribbon in half, and hem one end of each piece. Sew unhemmed ends to points of left and right fronts. Or, hem both ends of each piece of ribbon, sew snaps to one end of each, and to points of right and left fronts. Weave in ends and block.
