Here is an easy poncho that starts as rectangles and ends as a triangular delight.

Knit in a simple mesh pattern that's easily memorized, in South West Trading Company's Illusion yarn

Illusion is a Soy Silk yarn with a fine lurex thread through it, giving the yarn a subtle shimmer.

Flying Fingers South West Trading Company Illusion [85% soy silk 15% nylon; 105yd/ 94m per 110g skein]; color: Red; 5 skeins

1 set US 15/10mm straight needles OR
24-inch US 15/10mm circular needle

STITCH PATTERN

Diagonal Bar Pattern (worked over a multiple of 3 sts plus 1)
Row 1, and all odd-numbered rows: P all sts.
Row 2: K1, [YO, sl 1, k2, psso] to end.
Row 4. K2, [YO, sl 1, k2, psso] to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 6: K3 [YO, sl 1, k2, psso] to last st, k1.
Rep rows 1 through 6 for Diagonal Bar Pattern.

Beg with Row 1, work in Diagonal Bar Pattern until work measures 34 inches, ending with Row 6. BO all sts.

Sew pieces together as shown in diagram. Weave in ends.
