Because this issue of Knitty is our 30th.
Which made me think...30. Hrm. Could
we get 30 prizes to give away?
Jillian made it happen, contacting a whole
bunch of great companies, and man,
were they generous. We're talking
about more than $2500 in prizes!
And this time, there will be 30 winners...so
the love can be spread around as
much as possible!
Entering this contest couldn't be easier:
just make sure you're on our e-mail
list. If you're on the list, you're eligible to win! Everything
you need to know about prizes, contest
rules and all that, you'll find here.
Knitting? Are you kidding? We're knitting
up a storm here, and we hope you
have a blast with the extra-big winter
assortment of patterns we've chosen
for you this time.
Not a spinner? Don't skip the Knittyspin patterns!
Every one includes substitution suggestions
for commercially available yarn,
so if you want to knit it, you don't
need to touch a wheel or spindle
if that's not your thing.
This is the point in the editorial page where
I thank, with much appreciation and
gratitude, our advertisers for their
continued support.
I think it can never be
said too often: the reason Knitty
comes to you for free is because
of the support of our advertisers.
So if you need something one of them
offers for sale, we'd love it if
you'd click through their Knitty
ad on the way to pick it out. Even
if you're just browsing, clicking
around an advertiser's site is a
great idea,
because it introduces you to their
products, and it lets them know that
Knitty readers are interested in
what they have to offer.
And do read their ads...many of our advertisers
have special offers just for Knitty
readers, and we wouldn't want you
to miss out!
Keep in touch!

30
issues...so we've got 30
prizes!
This
issue, Winter 2009, is our
thirtieth!
We decided this milestone
deserved some special hoopla,
and thanks to a whole bunch of great
companies,
we've got hoopla up the hoop!
So many prizes -- more
than $2500 in prizes! -- we had to set up a
separate page to list them all...
which you'll find here. How
do you win?
Simple. Just
join the Knittyreader mailing
list.
Already on the list? Then you're
already eligible to win!
Contest rules below.
30 lucky list members, chosen
by a random number generator,
will each win 1 prize! Winners were
chosen January 22, 2010. Prizes
and winners are listed here. Not
on the list? It's okay...we'll have more contests every issue!
Winners must answer a skill-testing
question by e-mail in order to
receive prize. If winner does
not respond to our e-mail within
7 days, another winner will be
chosen.
We had a great response, with lots
of beautifully spun and designed
patterns. It was hard for all of
us to choose. Thanks to everyone
who entered the contest!
Our first place winner is Kristy Howell.
You can see and knit her award winning
Burning Embers Cowl right
here.
Our second place winner: Heather Zoppetti
Our third place winner: Katie
Kent
Congratulations to all of our contest winners!
Thanks to Interweave
Press and Amy King for providing
contest prizes.
Winter is the time I like to really kick
out some yardage with my spinning.
I spin all year round, every day, but the winter is when
I seem to get the most accomplished. Maybe I can sit still
longer in the winter, focus better. Life seems to slow down
in the winter.
I’ve recently organized all of my fiber [a benefit
of being under deadline for the magazine...it’s work,
really] and I want to put a serious
dent in my collection this winter.
Maybe spin a third before spring hits
and the fiber show season starts, because
then I can restock my stash with a
clear conscience and have the space
to store the new fiber.
Tell me: what
you do to get your spinning done?
If you have an idea for a project or article
for Knittyspin write me.
Knittyspin submission guidelines
are here.
If you have fiber,
spindles, books, or other spinny
products or tools that you'd like
us to review, you'll find information
how how to get your products in to
the hands of our reviewers here.
I love to talk about it all.
Have you seen the Knittyspin shwag? Check
